Who is God... to me

Who is God,
I was told,
God is everything,
God is everywhere,
God is infinite,
God is nothingness.

I felt blank and totally lost. 
Wondering,
What is He?
Where is He?
Why is He so abstract?

I was unable to comprehend Him,
I was unable to relate to Him,
I was unable to see or understand Him.

Lost in this deep mystery called God.
I searched,
I kept looking,
For some explanation,
For some sign,
For some understanding.

It came to me in different forms,
In articles I read,
In the speeches I heard,
But I still craved to understand more…

It was then a miracle presented into my life,
It came in the form of my Guru,
Who held my hand and took me into his lap,
Lovingly, patiently He taught me to look,
He showed me the God present in music,
He showed me the God present in dance,
He showed me the God all around in nature,
Oh, is this what they meant when they said,
God is everywhere,
God is in everything?
It no longer seemed so abstract,
The experience showed me God is here and everywhere.

My Guru once again held my hand and took me into his lap,
Lovingly, patiently He taught me to look,
This time He asked me to look beyond my senses,
He showed me what it was to look within,
He held me while I was lost in this immenseness,
Oh, is this what they meant when they said,
God is infinite?
The experience showed me God can not only be seen,
But can be felt beyond the senses.

My Guru once again held my hand and took me into his lap,
Lovingly He embraced and asked me to let go,
Gazing at Him, dissolving into Him,
I went deep within me,
And I experienced a oneness,
And then a nothingness…
Oh, is this nothingness, is it the God they meant?

Finally, I could comprehend,
Finally, it was relatable,
Finally, I could understand.

After this journey from,
God,
To my God,
I realized,

God is an experience…

  It was a holiday, and the day started lazily. The harsh summer heat was toned down by a sudden morning shower. The weather also seemed to play along with my leisure mood, bringing its cool and pleasant face, a rarity in May. My kitchen, usually a hot furnace, seemed cool and welcoming today.   There comes a time, When you rise and shine, A caterpillar from the comfort of a cocoon, Breaks free, To become a butterfly... Yes, I had my butterfly moment this week. I had always wanted to do it, but I was nervous as hell. I always marvelled at the effortless ease with which people around me did it, even my kids. I wondered, why was I unable to get myself to do it… The very thought of doing it, made me nervous. A hundred ‘what if’ scenarios played in mind. What if, I fall. What if, I slipped. What if, it broke. What if, I am stuck. I shuddered at the thought of one of the scenarios really happening. Into my womb, she came, With her, she brought faith. Testing me every other month, With names that had my heart go numb. Motherhood as old as the world, Always come with a scare that makes you go cold. Every mother here, Will vouch for this fact without fear. Yet we indulge in it, A journey laborious yet sweet, That leaves scars on our bodies, Yet our heart and mind fulfilled.
