  What lay in front was a village, Barren and dry. It was not long ago, It was a sight to behold, Wrapped in lush green, full of vegetation. Those days felt like a distant dream. I let out a loud sob, The voice of my heavy heart, Letting go of remnants of my beautiful past. Oh, I am a fighter, out and out, I have fought and won many wars, But this war with nature, I don’t know a way out. It has me on my knees on my land, Parched and dry. I lamented, Seeking and begging for help, Closed doors and blind eyes are all that I got. It crushed that little hope in my heart. Life always moves on. It spares none. I am but a victim, Of fate, Of vagaries of nature, Of human nature, I know not what. But I continue to do what I do,  Despite the odds stacked against, For doing is the only way, To burn that light of hope in my heart.
