My ray of sunlight - my little miracle found her way home...
What does the picture say?
The rays of sunlight pierced through the dense forest and fell on a lake.
The lake reflected the light, bringing to life the beauty around it.
Suddenly there was dancing petals and glittering flowers.
Everything became so magical and beautiful.
The forest became something more, a celestial palace...
I was this dense forest, with a normal life. A working professional, like thousands around me balancing all the roles of my life. Chasing few dreams and living happy moments every other day. Travelling, reading, writing and growing the way life takes me, flowing with the flow. Everything was good, but there was this one yearning, for a ray of sunlight, for a miracle.
One fine day, I had a glimpse of this miracle. It was two blue lines on a testing kit. I was joyful beyond words and filled with gratitude. She was an invisible part of me, not even the size of a mustard seed and yet my life started to revolve around her. Months rolled by, she was demanding, physically and emotionally. While my body and mind worked a lot to cope with her, she made me a queen, pampered, loved and cherished by all. My belly grew and with it my tiny miracle.
After a long wait, it was time, for the big reveal. She kept us waiting long past the due date, toying, eluding and testing our patience. My doctor and I were hopeful, while the world around us was desperate and restless. Finally, one night she made her presence felt, by hitting me with a nudge so sharp, I gasped for breath and realized, she had begun her journey home.
I had no idea what to expect, the happiness to see her arrive was drowned by the pain I felt every moment. A pain beyond me, a pain beyond anything I had ever experienced before. I just held on praying, hoping and waiting while hours became minutes and minutes became seconds. I had around me doctors, nurses and caregivers running, checking and shouting instructions, sometimes to others and sometimes to me. Calling out to me to breathe, to inhale, to relax, to push, to focus, while I drifted between excruciating pain and numbness. Then amid all the commotion, tension, needles, blood, screaming and pain…. It happened… I heard a piercing cry...
Time stood still.
My mind blank,
My eyes just gazing,
My ears alert,
My pain forgotten,
My heart racing,
Waiting for a glimpse…
And there she was my beautiful miracle,
My ray of sunlight,
Who brought light to my soul,
Reflecting something beautiful within me…
At that moment, with that one glance, in that one touch, something in me was awakened, I was reborn.
My happiness was beyond measure, my joy knew no bounds, ecstatic, elated and euphoric… looking, holding and hugging my little miracle, with happy tears… I realised everything had changed, I had found my heaven on earth…
